On September 21st the speaker for our general meeting was Bruce Thompson. He comes from a background of 30 years with the department of Human Services. He became executive director of the Edwin F. Deicke Home in January of 2004.His presentation included some historic information such as the first director was Collette Powers in 1958, and the home is staffed 24 hours. Funding is thru HUD and private donations which includes the Charity Bingo on Saturday nights. The age of the current residents is 23 to 61 years old. Their wish list items include a new van and a gas grill.
