In memory of Lion Mickey Cox
Past President 1982 |
Lion Mickey Cox
Lion Mickey Cox died on Saturday July 15, 2006 .A memorial was
held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pell lake, WI on Tuesday July
18, 2006.
Lion Mickey was the President of the Lombard Lions Club in 1982.
My fondest memory of Lion Mickey was working Candy Day on his
and Lion Rollin's corner at Myers and Roosevelt on cold October
mornings. I felt safe with Lion Mickey towering above the
traffic with his arms outstretched, Candy in one hand and
Container in the other.
A tireless worker in the days of Chicken Fry's twice a year. A
great organizer of recreational programs such as the fishing
trips on Lake Michigan for several years.
In the days when attendance was 4 Tuesdays a month Lion Mickey
was always there with his happy disposition and encouraging
words.
We all remember him best probably as the willing Santa Claus
year after year, for not only those that are less fortunate, but
bringing out the best of the season in all of us, The Spirit of
Lionism.
His memory lives in Lombard Lionism.
We are grateful.
